This week seems to be a week of rediscovering and discovering things that I’ve known about, or perhaps didn’t know about. I guess out of all the bad that’s happened as of recently, I’ve made it into an adventure and music is something I cannot live without (I doubt very many people can, actually. It’s a primal instinct to listen to music.) So I’ve been searching around, and downloading albums, and contenting myself, until just a few minutes ago, I was listening to a Moby song, “New York, New York” and realized, that I hadn’t listened to U2 in a long time. So I scroll down all the way through all my music and found the album “All That You Can’t Leave Behind” and listen to it. Personally, there are two tracks that I just can’t live without. “Beautiful Day” and “New York” are just amazing.
“Beautiful Day” is just so inspirational, and has an amazing chorus in general. And the track”New York”, well I love it because it’s about my favorite city on the planet of Earth. The city that provided me with so much heartbreak and so much passion, so much love, and so much loss. And the city that will continue to give me as such until the day I die. So I’m listening to New York, and wondering why the hell CSI: New York didn’t use it for their opening credits? I know they have to use The Who to keep in tradition, but as one of my old posts indicated, they slaughtered Baba O’Riley, and it’s depressing. “New York” winds up and hits it real hard once the chorus comes around. It’d be perfect for an opening credit sequence. Especially CSI: New York. I mean, do I really need to explain why a song singing about New York, would be perfect for CSI: NEW YORK? Nah, of course I don’t.
But it seems TV show creators never listen to their fan’s suggestions and wants. So it’s kind of useless. I just thought I’d rant about this. The song captures New York City so perfectly, and it ensnares all the excitement and diversity, and details of the city. It’s amazing, really. Really makes me want to fight hard so I can make my dream of working in the city as a young, handsome, NYPD Detective true. Working in the big city, young, probably single and dating, living in the city and having an amazing night life. Sounds like a TV show.
